wishful thinking?

Well ok... it's not a surprise that jakarta got a "gift" again this year. floods. well you see, Jakarta is regularly struck with floods, though not on the scale as in recent days. Dozens of slum areas near rivers are washed out each year. so far only 9 people were killed and 200,000 people homeless and as far as i'm writing right now, it's still raining and showed no sign of abating.

"
Incessant rain over Jakarta and hills to its south from Thursday triggered the city's worst floods in recent memory, highlighting the country's infrastructure problems as it tries to attract badly needed foreign investment."
~ well well well.. this isn't new. we all know that jakarta or even the whole country needs to be changed. i think government needs to start looking into this problem. we are regularly struck with floods but they don't give a damn about it. what's so hard about making rules/laws to start a good urban planning for the whole city? well they might say "ohh.. we need funds to do it" and they might get some funds from other countries or companies or whatever. but...with all those corrupted people handling the project, we will definitely see the money going into their own pockets instead to the right place. Sooooo... back to square one again.

"Authorities hand out (building permits) even though they clearly violate environmental impact studies," The Jakarta Post newspaper quoted him as saying. Jakarta Governor Sutiyoso, who was criticized when massive floods struck the city five years ago, blamed widespread deforestation in Puncak, saying it had destroyed water catchment areas."
~ corruption in playing. with the right amount of money and the right person to bribe, everything is easy in jakarta. if a company wants to build a new housing or apartment complex or any other business stuff, eventhough they know that they clearly violate rules/laws but with money everything is going to be as planned. Puncak isn't like it used to be. I used to love that area. It was a beautiful place. but people started to build houses, hotels, villas to attract city people and that destroyed everything.

well those government people for every problems that they have, they like to put the blame on someone or something instead of trying to find the root cause and solve it. i think they just like to talk without any action to prove it. I'm just tired with all those bullshit. well what do you think.... i think we should just nuke the whole country with missiles or even atomic bomb to clean the whole place and start new again. hmm maybe it's too flashy... how about genocide? just exterminate those stupid, corrupted people (government and civilians) and don't forget criminals. that sounds good to me. i guess i'm not 100% proud to be indonesian. (hmm weird sentences but it's 2 am in the morning. my brain can't digest stuff anymore so i guess that's an excuse :p). anyhow i'm off to bed.

I know what you're saying. the flood may be preventable. but, it's happening. now I just hope that it won't get any worse...
